11/28/2007
- Highly experienced in brownfields advocacy and redevelopment.
- Currently serves as Director for TBE Group.
- Former Florida Department of Environmental Protection Brownfield Program Manager
TALLAHASSEE, FL –Roger B. Register of TBE Group has been named President of the Florida Brownfields Association (FBA). Register, a TBE Director, manages TBE’s Tallahassee office and southeastern environmental business development.
The FBA is dedicated to the advancement and implementation of state and national brownfields redevelopment programs. FBA members, who include environmental specialists and professionals, provide brownfields information and redevelopment strategies to communities and the public to help clean up contaminated properties and revitalize areas that have experienced economic decline. Communities benefit directly from the increase in tax revenues generated from the redevelopment of former under-utilized properties and from the reduction of urban sprawl.
Register joined TBE in 2005, after spending 15 years providing environmental oversight at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) in Tallahassee. During his final eight years at FDEP, he implemented and managed the statewide Brownfields Redevelopment Program.
"Throughout his years at FDEP and with TBE, Roger has remained the State's foremost advocate for brownfields redevelopment. He has shown leadership in helping to shape positive changes to Brownfields legislature and provide brownfields education throughout the southeast US. His work with local community brownfields programs and with developers focused on brownfields redevelopment has definitely had a positive impact on our State. I am sure Roger and the FBA will continue this tradition of success," said TBE Vice President Steve Howarth.
“I am honored and privileged to serve as a board member for the Florida Brownfields Association and as the FBA’s President,” said Register. “The FBA is a voluntary service organization, and our existence and accomplishments depend on involvement of all members. In the upcoming 2008 Legislative Session, the association has committed to enhancing the Brownfields Redevelopment Program by working with the FDEP, OTTED, Enterprise Florida and other stakeholders. I look forward to working with FBA’s executive officers and our members in this legislative endeavor to assist Florida communities in redeveloping Brownfields and revitalizing areas that have experienced economic and public health decline. Our 2008 legislative package for redevelopment of Brownfields will compliment Governor Crist’s Going Green Initiative by furthering the reuse of lands and reducing a community’s overall carbon footprint.” To learn more about the FBA or its 2008 legislative priorities, visit www.floridabrownfields.org.
